Lutheran Institutional Ministry Council

The Lutheran Institutional Ministry Council (LIMC) makes Christmas and Easter tray favors for residents of Altenheim, Alpha Nursing Home, Covington East and Sugar Creek Convalescent Center. In the spring of the year the service organization holds an afternoon tea with a devotion at Altenheim. It also assists in serving refreshments after the annual Federation-hosted Reformation service in October.

LIMC was founded in 1926 under the spiritual guidance of Pastor Scheperle. Through the years LIMC assisted the chaplains at Wishard Hospital in visitation and distributing Portals of Prayer devotional booklets. At Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, LIMC members made tray favors to give to the patients, as well as to residents of Marion County Home at Julietta, at Altenheim, and Alpha Home. Covington East and Sugar Creek Convalescent Center were added in the late 1990's.

In the beginning, membership consisted of two appointed representatives from each of the Lutheran churches in the Federation of Lutheran Churches of Greater Indianapolis. Currently (Sept. 1, 2003), eight Federation-member congregations have representation with twenty-one working members and five honorary members.
